A charge for misdemeanor disorderly intoxication given to Hannibal Buress in December of last year has been dropped.

The charge, which Buress received while in Miami, Florida, was dropped Thursday morning.

“In Florida, it’s protected First Amendment speech to ask a police officer to call you an Uber,” Buress’ attorney told the Miami Herald. “Also, when coming from a professional comedian, it’s actually funny. Unfortunately, the arrest officer didn’t think so.”

In a report from police the incident started when Buress asked a cop to call an Uber for him. When the officer declined the comedian became “angry and belligerent,” and proceeded to walk inside a venue where the cop followed him in.

“Once outside, the defendant stood by the front gate and continued yelling profanities,” the officer’s report said. “I, then again, asked him to leave the area about five times. A crowd began to gather and vehicular traffic slowed as they watched the defendant yelling and being disorderly. Defendant arrested.”

Following news of the arrest, body cam footage of events leading up to Buress’ arrest was released.

The eight minute long video shows Buress in an exchange with Officer Luis Verne as the former is seen talking toward the cop’s body camera on a street.

“Hey, whats up?! It’s me, Hannibal Buress,” he says toward the camera laughing. “This cop is stupid as f**k. Hey, put this camera on.”

“Get out of here before…,” Verne responds before the comedian says “Hey what’s up, YouTube.”

From there, Verne arrests Buress.

The arrest hasn’t slowed the comedian down though. He recently provided a guest verse on Chris Quelle and Jean Gray‘s collaborative track “OhSh.”
