Chris Rock Comedy Tour Spikes In Ticket Sales After Slapping Incident

Following the Oscars 2022 Slapgate, it’s been reported that ticket sales for upcoming Chris Rock Ego Death World Tour have surged.

The 94th Academy Awards slap-fiasco has resulted in huge success for Chris Rock. In February, the comedian announced his upcoming stand-up tour Ego Death World Tour 2022, which begins April 2nd in Atlantic City. Following the Oscars 2022, on Monday, secondary ticket purchasing site TickPick claimed that they’ve “sold more tickets to see Chris Rock overnight” than they had in the entirety of February.

In a tweet from Kyle Zorn of TickPick, ticket prices for Ego Death World Tour 2022 jumped 200 percent, from $46 per ticket on March 18 to a current minimum of $411.

With 38 dates in total, Ego Death World Tour 2022 marks Rock’s first comedy tour in five years, the last being his Total Blackout Tour in 20217 and 2018.

“Lauded by peers and critics alike, Chris Rock is one of our generation’s strongest comedic voices,” Live Nation said in a statement, per Variety. “With a career spanning more than three decades, Rock has enjoyed ongoing success in both film and television as a comedian, actor, writer, producer and director.”

It’s evident that ticket purchasers are expecting material about Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, who faced-off with Rock after the comedian made an off-color joke towards the latter during the recent Oscars ceremony.

On Monday, Smith made an apology statement following the incident, which he posted on his Instagram.

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong,” Smith wrote. “I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

Rock will head off on the Ego Death World Tour on April 2nd, also co-headlining a five-date stand-up tour in July with Kevin Hart called the Only Headliners Tour.
