A year after declaring that he prefers stand-up to film and television, Chris Rock is heading back on the big stage. The comedian is returning to the stand-up circuit with his 38-date Ego Death Tour 2022 which begins its North American leg on April 2nd. The tour also marks Rock’s first stand-up stint since his Total Blackout Tour in 2017 and 2018, which was his first tour in nearly a decade.
The Ego Death Tour may aptly be titled after Rock’s undergoing therapy during his divorce and experimentation with psychedelic hallucinogens in 2020. He took ayahuasca and mushroom tea, the latter which he recounted on The Breakfast Club last year.
Last year, Rock starred as Loy Cannon in the fourth season of FX hit series Fargo. He also completed filming on upcoming Bayard Rustin biopic Rustin which will also star Colman Domingo, Glynn Turman and Audra McDonald, according to Variety. The film will be released on Netflix under Barack and Michelle Obama‘s film company Higher Ground.
The Ego Death Tour begins April 2nd for a two-show stint at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, with stops in Las Vegas, Cleveland, Toronto, Denver, Oakland, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and more. The tour will wrap on November 17th in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theatre.
Tickets for the Ego Death World Tour 2022 go on sale Friday, February 25th at 10 AM EST on Ticketmaster.
