On Monday, Billboard released its charts for the week of August 22. Cardi B and Megan thee Stallion spent their second week atop the chart with “WAP.” The track is just the second song to spend its first two weeks atop the charts since Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings.”
The song fended off Drake, who recently dropped his new single “Laugh Now Cry Later,” featuring Lil Durk. Their track landed at the number two spot. “WAP” is also the first song by women to hold the top spot for multiple weeks since Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” re-entered the charts for three weeks during the 2019 holiday season. Before that, Lizzo spent seven weeks at the top spot in September-October 2019.
“Laugh Now Cry Later” did top the Billboard Streaming Songs chart, the ninth song of his to do so. Drake now holds records for the most overall Hot 100 entries (225), most top-40 hits (114), and most songs to debut in the top 10 (26). The track was streamed 69.8 million times over the week ending August 20. Drake recently passed Madonna for the most top-ten records in Billboard chart history.
In the second week after its release, “WAP” was streamed 72.2 million times, down 22 percent from its first week, which set a record with 93 million streams.
Drake’s debut pushed DaBaby and Roddy Ricch‘s “Rockstar” from the number two spot to three, while Jack Harlow’s “What’s Poppin” remix dropped from number four to five.
