‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Will Be One of the Longest Marvel Movies of All Time

Long-awaited Black Panther sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will reportedly have a runtime of 2 hours and 41 minutes.

Black Panther fans can look forward to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever having a longer runtime than the first installment. The sequel will reportedly be 2 hours and 41 minutes long in comparison to Black Panther being 2 hours and 15 minutes long. The Ryan Coogler-directed film will be dedicated to the late Chadwick Boseman (who formerly played T’Challa/Black Panther), as the titular character will not be recast.

Rounding out the Wakanda Forever cast are Letitia Wright as Shuri, Tenoch Huerta‘s Namor, Danai Gurira‘s Okoye, Winston Duke‘s M’Baku, Angela Bassett‘s Queen Ramonda and Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia.

The nearly 3-hour runtime of Wakanda Forever differentiates from other MCU Phase 4 films, including . Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder which were roughly 2 hours in length. Although Wakanda Forever marks the last theatrical release of Phase 4, an upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special will conclude the timeline. Kicking off Phase 5 is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which debuts February 2023.

In a recent Black Panther package for Empire, Lupita Nyong’o shared that the cast gave Coogler their full trust following Boseman’s passing in 2020.

“Ryan had walked me through what the film was going to be when Chadwick was still alive. And so once we lost him, the thought that we could go on, it was just unfathomable to me,” Nyong’o said.” “What Ryan ended up sharing with me was just so utterly truthful and beautiful. By the end of it, I was in tears.”
