Cosby's publicist had some harsh words for Murphy's monologue.

While most metrics (including, you know, ratings) would suggest that Eddie Murphy's return to Saturday Night Live was nothing short of a blockbuster, the camp of a disgraced comedic forefather begs to differ. Namely, that of Bill Cosby, who is currently serving out the remainder of his three-to-ten year sentence for aggravated indecent assault.

Cosby's publicist and paid apologist, Andrew Wyatt, shared a scathing statement on the comedian's Instagram account (which he definitely manages,) blasting Murphy's monologue, which took a few jabs at Cosby's expense. "It is sad that Mr. Murphy would take this glorious moment of returning to SNL and make disparaging remarks against Mr. Cosby," reads Wyatt's statement. It goes on to charge Murphy with being a "Hollywood Slave" and chasing clicks. Wyatt's statement closes with an invitation to meet and "discuss how we can use our collective platforms to enhance Black people rather than bringing all of us down together."

During his monologue, Murphy revived his impression of the incarcerated comedian, joking that if someone asked him to bet on whether he'd be the stay-at-home dad and Cosby would be the one in jail 30 years down the line, he would've taken it.
