Big Freedia is back by popular demand. On Tuesday, the New Orleans bounce artist went to social media with high praise for Beyoncé for being sampled on her new single “Break My Soul.” The track samples Freedia’s song “Explode” from their 2014 album Just Be Free.
“It feels surreal to be on the track with the Queen Beyonce once again I’m so honored to be apart of this special moment I’m forever grateful lord,” Freedia wrote in the caption for “Break My Soul.” “someone please catch me. [Blaqnmild] my brother and I been working along time congratulations fam. [Beyonce] love you so much.”
Freedia also added in an Instagram Story, “Overwhelmed with tears of joy. my God is so real the things he can do in your life. only if y’all know where I come from and how hard this journey has been I’m forever grateful thanks so much for loving me for who l am. this for all of y’all.”
Freedia last collaborated with Beyoncé on “Formation” the lead-single from Bey’s 2016 album Lemonade. In 2016, the bounce music star also made an appearance during the Formation World Tour stop in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, to introduce the performance of “Formation.”
Aside from working with Bey, Freedia has worked with numerous music acts, also featured on the chart-topping 2018 Drake single “In My Feelings,” with the song setting off a viral dance challenge.
Big Freedia will next appear on the celebrity reboot of College Hill on BET this summer.
