From Megan Thee Stallion to Nas, rappers have fully embraced Halloween over the years. Here are some of our favorite rapper costumes over the years.

It’s officially spooky season. Halloween is on Monday and rappers — like other celebrities — have a long history of getting involved in the festivities.

Rappers love dressing up for Halloween and then showing off their costume on social media. They usually put their best foot forward, leaning into pop culture staples, making interesting upgrades at times.

From Megan Thee Stallion to Nas, here are some of our favorite rapper costumes over the years.

Missy Elliott as Missy Elliott (2018)

Missy Elliott has created so many iconic looks over the years. So it only made sense that she would borrow inspiration from herself. In 2018, the legendary rapper reached into her archives to recreate her inflated garbage bag suit from “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” video, which was directed by Hype Williams in 1997. Instead of wearing the original balloon suit, she rocked a Versace coat which exuded her quirky charm nonetheless.

Nicki Minaj as the Bride of Chucky (2019)

Set up against a snowy background, Nicki Minaj honors the Bride of Chucky by wearing a black leather jacket over a corset wedding dress, blonde hair and makeup that makes her creepily familiar. She’s joined by her husband Kenneth Petty, who is animated as Chucky in the trademark blue overalls, colorful striped shirt and red shoes.

Saweetie as DC anti-heros (2019 & 2021)

Over the years, Saweetie has built a reputation for being the queen of Halloween. In  2019, she came out clowning as Harley Quinn, rocking a bodysuit corset, light fishnet stockings, and a latex thigh harness and boots. She finished off the look with the iconic exaggerated joker hat, in black-and-red tone.

And then last year, she dressed as Catwoman from the polarizing 2004 movie. She nailed the look so much she received a co-sign from Halle Berry, the Oscar-winning actress who starred in the role.

Nas as the character who inspired “The World Is Yours” (2021)

Rappers often love to compare themselves to mob bosses, and the 2021 Halloween season allowed one of hip-hop’s greatest icons, Nas, to bring this comparison to life. In an Instagram post, Nas was dressed as Tony Montana, the fictional character from the 1983 mob movie Scarface. Nas matched the character’s signature double breasted dress suit, inner red shirt, shades, and the unmistakable scar.

On James Corden’s The Late Late Show in 2020, Megan Thee Stallion revealed that she loves scary movies. Already a natural anime cosplayer, the rapper brought the chills for last year’s Halloween when she looked completely stunning as Pinhead from the iconic 1987 horror movie Hellraiser. Wearing a sexed-up leather bodysuit, her face was painted white with a grid of nails emerging from her head.

Cardi B as Medusa (2020)

In 2020, Cardi B slithered into Halloween costumed as Medusa from Greek mythology. Rocking a metallic gold-played bra, matching choker, bangles, and a V-shaped belt, her lower body was tubed in a scale-clad six-foot tail.

Offset as The Mask (2020)

For Halloween 2020, Atlanta rapper Offset went as The Mask (who was portrayed by Jim Carrey) from the 1994 superhero comedy of the same name. With the iconic mustard yellow suit, fedora hat and tie, Offset channeled his inner mischief.

Lil Nas X dressing up as his idol Nicki Minaj (2020)

It is a known fact that Lil Nas X idolizes Nicki Minaj. The rapper dressed up as her in Halloween of 2020. Choosing the look from Minaj’s Pink Friday-era classic “Super Bass,” the rapper flaunted a pink jumpsuit with Minaj’s two-tone wigs that got fans of both the rapper and Minaj pumped up.

The Game as the “Classic Man” (2015)

The Game had some fun when he showed up dressed as singer-rapper Jidenna for Halloween in 2015. Jidenna, who has for long groomed a dandy aesthetic, couldn’t ask for a more willing imitator. By swapping his signature gangster look for red hair with the finger-wave styling, waistcoat and walking stick, The Game told everyone he could exude a gentlemanly swagger. The next year, Jidenna returned the favor by dressing up as The Game.
