The world’s favorite low-jinx buddies are taking on the universe. The animated duo, created by Mike Judge (who also made legendary animated sitcom King of the Hill), will star in their second film just 26 years after their 1996 full-length feature, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.
In January, Judge announced that he and King of the Hill co-creator Greg Daniels started a new animation company, Bandera Entertainment, also teasing that the sequel to his 1996 film was on the way.
The synopsis for the movie reads, “In perhaps the dumbest space movie ever made, Beavis and Butt-Head are sentenced to Space Camp by a ‘creative’ judge in 1998. Their obsession with a docking simulator (huh huh) leads to a trip on the Space Shuttle, with predictably disastrous results. After going through a black hole, they reemerge in our time, where they look for love, misuse iPhones, and are hunted by the Deep State. Spoiler: They don’t score.”
The original series ran on MTV from 1993 to 1997 before returning to the network for one season in 2011. In February, The Hollywood Reporter shared that the series will have another reboot, this time on Paramount+ in 2024. Along with his new film, Judge is reportedly partnering with Sacha Baron Cohen on a new HBO Max animated series called Chelm: The Smartest Place on Earth.
On Sunday, June 5, an exclusive look at the upcoming Beavis and Butt-Head movie will air during the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards.
