Barack Obama Memoir 'A Promised Land' to Arrive in November

3 million copies of the Barack Obama memoir will be printed in the United States.

On Thursday, Penguin Random House announced that the latest memoir from Barack ObamaA Promised Land, will be released on November 17. The 768-page book will be printed in 25 different languages. Demand is expected to be high, so the publisher has ordered 3 million copies for the first round of publishing in the United States.

“There’s no feeling like finishing a book, and I’m proud of this one,” Obama said in a statement. “I’ve spent the last few years reflecting on my presidency, and in A Promised Land I’ve tried to provide an honest accounting of my presidential campaign and my time in office: the key events and people who shaped it, my take on what I got right and the mistakes I made, and the political, economic, and cultural forces that my team and I had to confront then — and that as a nation we are grappling with still.”

Back in 2018, Barack and Michelle Obama sold the rights to their memoirs to Crown, an imprint of Penguin Random House, for $65 million. Michelle's book, Becoming, has sold more than 8.1 million copies since its fall 2018 release.

A Promised Land will be the first of two volumes, beginning with his historic election in 2008 and ending with the death of Osama bin Laden in 2011. The book will intentionally be released after the election, as Obama intends to focus his efforts on his former Vice-president Joe Biden's campaign in early November.
