According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Bremner will write the script.

After years of failed reboots, staff changes, and budgetary crunches, Bad Boys for Lifefinally hit theaters on Friday. However, Sony isn't resting on its laurels.

Despite the movie trailer including the phrase "one last time," The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that yet another Bad Boys sequel is in the works. The outlet claims Bad Boys for Life screenwriter Chris Bremner will return to write the newest script. Additionally, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will return as Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowery once more. This time around, however, Sony is aiming to have a new chapter out sooner rather than later.

In the 25 years since the original's release, the franchise has shuffled eight different screenwriters and three different directors. In addition to budgeting concerns, the franchise's rotating staff members were concerned about finding the right story.

Award-winning director Michael Bay directed the first two chapters, while Belgian duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah co-directed the third. Bay previously expressed his desire to return to the franchise but claimed the budget would be a major issue in its production. THR did not specify who would be directing the fourth chapter.

Bad Boys for Life screenwriter Chris Bremner will reportedly be returning. In addition to Bad Boys 4, Bremner is screenwriting for Disney's National Treasure 3. Jerry Bruckheimer--Bad Boys' longtime producer--is also producing that project.

Bad Boys for Life is now playing in theaters.
