Ava DuVernay made history when she became the first black woman to direct a movie with a $100 million budget. (The movie was the just-released Wrinkle in Time.)
Now she’s getting ready to do it again.
Deadline is reporting that Ava is in the process of closing a deal with Warner Bros and DC to direct an adaptation of the famous Jack Kirby comic book The New Gods.

If you’ve been following Ava on Twitter, this news shouldn’t be that surprising. During a Twitter chat last year, Ava revealed that her favorite superhero character was Big Barda, asuperhero from The New Gods.
This will be the second time Warner and DC look for a woman to direct a superhero movie. Patty Jenkins famously directed Wonder Woman, which ended up being a huge hit.
