Last Week was mad real for Kanye West. On Monday (October 10), the Donda 2 artist released surprise documentary Last Week to his YouTube channel after having restricted Instagram access and being banned from Twitter for an anti-semitic tweet. The 30-minute documentary chronicles Ye’s business deals, family life and listening to unreleased music.
The documentary begins with a video game-styled character with Ye’s likeness exploring a criminal underworld. Last Week then pivots to reality, with the artist formerly known as Kanye West riding in a car and rapping along to an unreleased song that references Drake, Future and Lil Baby. He eventually attends a meeting with Adidas, where the rapper-producer plays a pornographic clip on his phone, comparing one of the actor’s voices with an Adidas executive and references his alleged plagiarized designs.
Reclaiming his ideas, Ye checks out new Yeezy designs, including boots, jackets and more.
“I’m literally in a place where I believe that my product and relevancy and all these things can work without me having to be the center of the news,” he says.
Later in the documentary, Ye visits Donda Academy where he proposes “Dondafying” the space with new architecture. Towards the end, he attends a basketball game that his eldest child North West is playing, briefly rekindling with his family.
Although the documentary shows a relatively positive Ye, it comes one day after he was locked out of Twitter violating the platform’s policies.
“I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” he tweeted. “The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”
Earlier in the day, his Instagram page was deleted, with a Meta representative confirming that a restriction was placed on the account. It’s unclear what rules were violated, but last weekend, Ye posted a text conversation between himself and Diddy, saying he would use the Bad Boy Entertainment founder as an “example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.”
