50 Cent recently sat down with Rap Radar’s Cigar Talk series. The rapper and business mogul talked about the future of the Power franchise, his new ABC series For Life, and more. Watch the full interview above.
Eventually, the discussion turned to Diddy and Mase. In late January, the Recording Academy named Diddy its 2020 Icon Award winner. In his acceptance speech, he bashed the Academy for its history of snubbing Black musicians. Shortly after the speech, Mase criticized him for shady business practices regarding his Bad Boy publishing deal.
“Before we ask of other ethnicities to do us right we should do us as black people better,” Mase wrote on Instagram.
50 Cent sees things differently. 34 minutes into the interview, he claims Mase currently holds Brooklyn rapper Fivio Foreign in a similar deal as his Bad Boy deal.
“This is just personal shit between the two of them,” 50 began. “They have dealt with each other for years…when he’s pointing out the publishing shit, he’s doing the same shit to young boys now. Fivio. He’s doing the same thing that they did to you, boy. What the fuck you crying about some shit that somebody did to you and you doing it to someone else?”
50 continued, explaining that artists should take these deals with a grain of salt.
“You can’t cry over spilled milk after the fact,” he said. “The things you go through make you who you are…at that point [in his career], he did the right deal. You ask me if Fivio did the right deal, I say ‘yeah.”
Cigar Talk host Naji clarified the accusation on Twitter afterward. He says he spoke with Mase directly, who showed him paperwork saying he took none of Fivio Foreign’s publishing rights.
