Praise the day, new Thundercat has arrived. A few weeks back, BRAINFEEDER chief, Flying Lotus, revealed that a new album from Cat would be landing by year’s end, and today, what could be our first step towards that goal has surfaced in the feathery new frequency “Bus In These Streets,” programmed and edited by his label head and longtime collaborator. It’s a wispy and lightweight treatment, leaning on Steely Dan-ish arrangements and vocal, but heavy enough to keep your feet on the ground as you bop to each and every dulcet note.
Hear the latest from Thundercat down below and catch him on the road this fall, the dates for which are listed below, including BRAINFEEDER’s cosmic revue at the Hollywood Bowl, featuring Flying Lotus, Shabazz Palaces and George Clinton. There may not be a firm release date tagged to project just yet, but with “Bus In These Streets,” at least you have something to hold you over.
