PJ Morton Connects With BJ The Chicago Kid + The HamilTones For "Everything's Gonna Be Alright
Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer, PJ Morton, has enlisted two of the finest voices in the R&B / soul world for his version of “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”. Joining him on the cut are BJ The Chicago Kid and The HamilTones, whose blended vocals should make a powerful nod to Marvin Gaye‘s “What’s Going On?”.
The song, which is one of the singles from PJ’s upcoming album, Gumbo, finds the group talking about finding peace through harmony. A funky diddy, laced with horns, a cool bass guitar riff and that penchant energy we’ve come to expect from these aforementioned players, “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” is just the mood setter to have going into the weekend.
“As people, we’ve gone through a bunch,” PJ said in a released statement. “Look at the world. You’ve got the Black Lives Matter movement, the presidency, racial tension, and the way we’re divided in the country right now. That’s the subject matter. We’re still here though. I’m saying, ‘I know this is one of the craziest times we’ve ever been in, but everything’s gonna be alright.’ The HamilTones and BJ are both current, but old school, so they brought that perfect mix.”
With verses that make references to the seemingly regular occurrences between law enforcement and black-and-brown people, “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” aims to be a release of tension during these strenuous ties.
