Goapele Celebrates Her Independence On "Power," 'Dreamseeker' EP
We love her, you love her and her talent is undeniable. Goapele is back!
After hooking up with Lafa Taylor for the jamming single, “Falling,” the soul singer du jour follows up with “Power,” the first effort from her own independent project, Dreamseeker.
Released via EMPIRE / SKYBLAZE, Goapele is hitting the road in conjunction with the new project, performing in Boston, New York, Washington, D.C. and more. The song, and its accompanying video, can both be seen underneath, and finds Goapele confidently embracing new energies and her expanding musical palette.
“Power,” which lyrically explores social consciousness, motherhood and sensuality, takes Goapele to another higher level than the one she was on during 2014’s Strong As Glass. Produced by Cornelio Austin (BJ The Chicago Kid) — Goapele’s “Power” will instantly captivate your earholes, as her recognizable voice delivers all the right notes.
“I’m a woman, but I’m also a whole person who won’t be confined to any one box,” she said in a released statement. “Nobody is just one thing. Within any race, within any genre, and within any neighborhood, there’s so much diversity. As artists and especially as women of color, we have to be proud of that. I’m coming from an honest place and expressing the different parts of myself that make me whole.
Witness the return of Goapele’s adventurousness and soulfulness by pressing play on “Power” above or below, and keep an eye out for Dreamseeker when it arrives everywhere on May 19.
