Frank Ocean Quietly Drops A Sublime Cover Of Henry Mancini’s “Moon River”
Valentine’s Day didn’t quite work out for you yesterday? Don’t worry, good ole Frank Ocean lets loose this sonic blessing in the form of Henry Mancini’s “Moon River”.
Your crush wasn’t feeling you on Valentine’s Day? Those gifts you gave to your significant other didn’t quite get the spark you were hoping for? Don’t worry, Frank Ocean has other plans for you when it comes to matters of the heart. Via his Blonded YouTube channel, the celebrated crooner just dropped a cover of the Henry Mancini ballad “Moon River,” which was made eternally famous by Audrey Hepburn in the film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Utterly beautiful and full of heart-wrenching emotion, Ocean’s “Moon River” cover was built from a sonic tapestry of vocal lines — some layered, other times they were raw. When placed against a guitar, the song sounds like how seeing the Northern Lights must feel. It’s rich, warm (especially for this season) and enough to become its own new American standard. It is a track that should get some heavy replay and allow you to reflect on your own emotional status.
Frank has done it again. Listen to his cover of “Moon River” below, and share your thoughts in our comments section.
