With some film endeavors finally (maybe?) out of the way, Flying Lotus is signaling that he’s ready to bring his music back to the world. yesterday, the Brainfeeder chief dropped two new songs on his SoundCloud page; the first was a glitchy and soulful Queen-sampling instrumental, the other a trap-laced rework of the Twin Peaks theme song, previewed in a recent performance.
Today, he follows through with another batch, only this time it’s four tracks deep and features some assistance from right-hand bass man, Thundercat, along with FlyLo’s animated alter-ego, Captain Murphy. He also shared two versions of his theme for the film, LoveTrue.
You can hear it all below. Flying Lotus’ last album arrived in 2014’s You’re Dead!, though he contributed to Kendrick Lamar‘s 2015 jazz and funk opus, To Pimp a Butterfly. Stay tuned for more in the weeks and months ahead.
