The Round-Up: Best Songs of The Week - ft. Smino, Ian Isiah, Earl Sweatshirt, and More [Playlist]

The Round-Up returns with a fresh scan of slow-burners and house-heavy heaters.

Happy Friday, folks. And welcome to the better side of the midterms. It wasn't the landslide overhaul many of us hoped for, but with The House in the hands of Democrats for the first time in eight years — and recounts imminent in crucial Georgia and Florida races — the state of our union is shaping up, or at least, approaching some semblance of evenness. So let's get to these drops while there's still time to celebrate.

Release Day's arrived with a lean batch of full-lengths, led by St. Louis stunner, Smino, and his slumpless sophomore album, NOIR. The singles campaigns, however, are as polished, potent, and full of promise, as anything we've seen in the political sphere in the last few weeks. Earl Sweatshirt returned to the world with a trim and trippy morsel. Emily King put in a bid for pop-soul supremacy with "Look At Me Now." Ari Lennox fogged up every glass pane in sight with her sultry "40 Shades of Choke." And Little Dragon slipped back on to the dance floor with "Timothy" and a short-stack EP.

All this, and so much more, awaits in the latest installment of The Round-UpHear it down below and hit the link to subscribe to Okayplayer's Spotify channel for an endless supply of aux cord ammunition.
