First Look Friday alum, ANE (“A New Era” and pronounced “Ann-nee”), is back again with new work that is consuming + hypnotic. The long-awaited follow-up to her 2014 album, Freedomfiend, is as enchanting as her personality. With that in mind, we’re excited to share with you all the new EP, Bitan, which in Korean translates to “lament, a passionate expression of grief or sorrow.”

ANE‘s sultry, synth-pop and soulful energy is weighty and full of sincerity. “Most of the songs on this project were written during a time in my life when I was dealing with fresh wounds from heartbreak and grief,” she said in a written released statement. “A lot of the lyrics express denial, anger, bargaining and depression, which are all four of the stages of grief except the final stage: acceptance.”

Available for purchase and streaming across all digital platforms, cop Bitan and rejoice in a life lived fantastically by experiencing ANE’s project below.
