About Hiatus Kaiyote

Formed in Australia, the self-described “future soul” band Hiatus Kaiyote was started by lead singer/guitarist Nai Palm in 2011. After the band released their debut album Tawk Tomahwak in 2012, they received cosigns from artists like Erykah Badu, Animal Collective, The Dirty Projecters, and Questlove; even getting support from Prince for the song “Nakamarra”. The remix of the song featuring Q-Tip would go on to be nominated for a Best R&B Performance Grammy in 2013. The band’s second album Choose Your Weapon would be released in 2015, with the song “Breathing Underwater” being nominated for the same Grammy.
