About Derrick Hodge

The Grammy-winning, Philadelphia-born bassist/composer is a celebrated musician in the contemporary jazz world. Not only has a made a name as a member of the Robert Glasper Experiment, he is also quite successful as a session musician that has worked across genres. While in school, Hodge began working with artists such as Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, and Floetry. From there, Hodge has lent his talents to a number of people as a session musician including Common, Q-Tip, Kanye West, even performing on the score of Spike Lee’s When The Levee Breaks: A Requiem in Four Acts.
