UPDATE: Yasiin Bey Issues Statement On Tekashi 6ix9ine Video, Says Clip Was "Taken Out Of Context"

UPDATE: Yasiin Bey actually doesn't think Tekashi 6ix9ine's "Gummo" is "the most depressing s**t I've ever seen in my life."

Following the release of A$AP Rocky's AWGE DVD in which Bey is seen discussing 6ix9ine, AWGE and Bey have released a statement saying that the scene was "taken out of context and edited in a way that does not accurately depict him or his opinions."

"Earlier this week, AWGE released the third installment of their web docuseries AWGE DVD, chronicling behind the scenes moments with A$AP Rocky, the A$AP Mob and AWGE-affiliated artists and friends. Unbeknownst to Yasiin Bey and the AWGE team, an unapproved version of AWGE DVD Vol. 3 was leaked and included a clip of Yasiin Bey that was taken out of context and edited in a way that does not accurately depict him or his opinions. The leaked clip was not included in the final released version of Vol 3 from AWGE and does not reflect Yasiin Bey's feelings on Tekashi 6ix9ine, his work or otherwise. No further comment will be made at this time."

The artist formerly known as Mos Def isn't a fan of the fellow New York rapper.

If you've been waiting for Yasiin Bey to offer his thoughts on controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine you're in luck. The Black Star rapper makes an appearance on A$AP Rocky's AWGE DVD where he's shown Tekashi's music for the first time alongside a group of other people.

As the music video for Tekashi's "Gummo" plays, Bey looks unimpressed before offering his thoughts on it.

"Why is everyone acting like this new? This is a version of the same old sh*t," He says before name-dropping Brooklyn hip-hop duo M.O.P. The group, most known for their song "Ante Up," are known for their aggressive lyrical delivery style, which is probably why Bey referenced them. After explaining the duo's background he gives his final opinion on Tekashi: "That was the most depressing s**t I've ever seen in my life."

The exchange can be viewed at the 15:04 mark. Recently, Tekashi was allegedly kidnapped, assaulted, and robbed in Brooklyn.

After finishing up shooting a music video early Sunday morning (July 22) he headed home at around 4 o'clock in the morning when a car pulled up and blocked his driveway. Three people in hoods holding guns then grabbed the 22-year-old, pistol whipped him and dragged him into their car.

Allegedly, the kidnappers threatened to kill him if he didn't give up jewelry and cash. Two of the gunmen headed into the house, where 6ix9ine's daughter and baby mother were. According to TMZ, around $750k in jewelry and thousands of dollars was stolen.
