Listen To A Rare, Previously Unreleased Amy Winehouse Demo

One of Amy Winehouse's first-ever demos has been released.

Titled "My Own Way," the previously unreleased track was recorded when Winehouse was just 17 years old. Although the song sways into more pop territory (a contrast from the jazz sound that was an integral part of her mainstream success), it still showcases Winehouse's undeniable talent as a singer.

"I've had it knocking about for so long. I found it again last week and thought – I'll put it out there so people could hear it," Gil Cang, a producer and composer for Winehouse early in her career, said to Billboard.

"It was at a particularly dire time in the pop world – lots of terrible, terrible girl bands and boy bands and we had to make something for them. Amy came in to see us, opened her mouth and just blew us all away," Cang added.

Three years ago it was originally reported that the last remaining Winehouse demos were destroyed by David Joseph, Winehouse's former boss and chairman of Universal Music UK.

"Taking a stem or a vocal is not something that would ever happen on my watch," Joseph previously said. "It now can't happen on anyone else's."
