Mick jenkins badbadnotgood drowning
Mick Jenkins, the Chicago rapper, in the build up for his upcoming project The Healing Component, has released some brand new visuals for the track "Drowning." The song was produced by none other than frequent collaborator's BADBADNOTGOOD. The stark visuals take a trip back in time and follow Mick Jenkins as he is chased by a pair of white men who seek to lynch him, a scene that, despite proclamations of a post-racial society, repeats today. This past month, in the streets of Chicago, Paul O'Neal an 18 year-old African American was chased and murdered by a group of Chicago police officers. The visuals continue with Jenkins' long standing water analogies as an array of shots capture the Chicago MC rapping underwater. Jenkins sings, "I can't breath, I can't breath."
