The legend Nasir Jones connects with DJ Shadow (who has a pretty solid career himself) for the debut of a lyric video to cement their first-ever collaboration.

The song, “Systematic,” which was unveiled last month during the season premiere of HBO‘s Silicon Valley, marks the first new piece of music from the latter since The Mountain Will Fall came out last year. Featuring deep, dank funk over a boom-bap beat, Shadow adds a fresh touch of 21st century cool over his trademark old-school turntablism.

It has been a busy year for DJ Shadow since he’s came back onto the scene. From making his career fifth appearance at Coachella to launching his show Find, Share, Rewind on KCRW to getting his The Mountain Will Fall tour off the ground — this lyric video is another historical moment in an already superb career.

Along with Nasir’s fiery verse, “Systematic” looks to be must-hear music that promises more excellence when Mass Appeal Records‘ drops the forthcoming Silicon Valley: The Soundtrack, which is out on June 23.
