Chris Rock On New André 3000 Album: "It's Like Telling Amber Rose About Her Curves"
Chris Rock has been making the rounds recently; he is supporting his Total Blackout Tour, which he keeps on expanding. The legendary comic recently stopped by Hot 97, where he went long and deep with Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez.
The interview is great. Obviously, there are some interesting tidbits about everything from President Donald Trump to details about his divorce. However, since this is Hot 97, and Rock is known as being a huge hip-hop fan, there are a lot of good talks about rap.
Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. is still on everyone’s tongue. When Rosenberg asked Rock if Kendrick can already be in the GOAT conversation, he said:
“With this album, I believe that Kendrick has entered the topic of conversation of being the greatest but we have to remember we are only three albums in but I have to say that he’s definitely in there.”
Rock also told a great story about seeing André 3000 and asking about a new album:
“I did my speech, ‘We need an OutKast album…’ I did my part… and he’s like a hot chick. It’s like telling Amber Rose about her curves. ‘You don’t say? You think I’m attractive, huh?'”
Other interesting points in the interview:
Rock thinks J. Cole is on the same level as Kendrick Lamar.
Rock says that Donald Glover’s Atlanta is the best show on TV.
He lives near Q-Tip, so he was around during the We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service recording sessions.
He loves the Migos‘ Culture album.
