Last night on The Tonight Show, Alicia Keys joined Jimmy Fallon for a round of the consistently on-point Wheel of Musical Impressions. While the host’s randomly generated selections found him playing one of The Pointer Sisters in a State Farm commercial and Elvis Presley as the Meow Mix crooner, Keys’ spins proved to be wildly more compelling. Impersonating Gwen Stefani, the singer gave woozy rendition of “Miss Mary Mack,” one-upping herself in the follow-through as Adele transforming “The Alphabet Song” into a sweeping and dramatic stadium ballad, all with the assistance of The Roots.
The appearance follows the release of two standout loosies; a blissful reinterpretation of Kaytranada’s “Hot Jassybelle” and an intense take on Kanye West’s “Low Lights.” She also released her new album HERE late last year, garnering praise from critics and pedestrians alike.
