Solange Deletes Twitter Account In Support Of Anti-White Supremacy Activists
Sistah Solange wants racists and hate-mongers to have all the seats.
Solange Knowles deleted her Twitter account after posting a message of support to Takiyah Thompson, an activist who allegedly tore down a monument to the American confederacy.
Calling out racism in a series of tweets, Solange was spurned by the events that transpired at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend. Thompson, 22, became a public hero after she and other activists toppled a monument to confederate soldiers in Durham, North Carolina. She was singled out and arrested by police shortly after.
“Deleting my Twitter soon, but before I dip… when we gonna pull up? [And] what we got to do to get my new hero Takiyah Thompson free?” Solange tweeted.
Her Twitter parting shot read, “deleting my twitter soon, but before I dip…when we gonna pull up? & what we got to do to get my new hero Takiyah Thompson free?” This isn’t the only social media account that the A Seat at the Table creator has left. A while ago, she also left Instagram, which she explained in a post that has since been deleted. “Been trying to study myself, been trying to practice self-preservation during this time and not give racist ugly ass f**k bois (boys) who reek of citronella my energy so I can preserve my spirit to perform this album. F**k white supremacist(s), f**k Nazis, f**k your stale ass bland ass monuments.”
While we will miss seeing our favorite #BlackGirlMagic ambassador on these internets, we’re pretty sure that this won’t be the last we’ll see or hear from Solange.
