With the help of LRG, the legendary producer and the Sacramento emcee hook up for this 5-song EP, The Extra Sessions. Recorded in just 48 hours, The Extra Sessions will serve as a prelude to an upcoming C Plus x Ski full LP set to drop later this year. The legendary Bronx duo Camp Lo will be performing the classic album Uptown Saturday Night in its entirety tonight at the Knitting Factory, Brooklyn. The show is the first leg of a tour to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the hip-hop/soul/jazz-inspired album, released in 1997. The duo is also slated to unveil some new joints in collaboration with long time friend and producer DJ Ski (now known as Ski Beatz). Also featured on the bill are Lushlife, The Doppelgangaz, P.SO, and DJ Minoyama. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch these classic tunes live and remember, when Luchini pours from the sky, ya’ll better be sipping the Amaretta.

In case you missed it, last month Camp Lo and Ski Beatz put out an unreleased EP, Fort Apache, originally recorded in ’06. In case there’s more you didn’t know abut the ‘Lo, they bring you up to speed with the visuals to the EP’s closing track, “Did You Know.” Video directed by Takeshi Fukunaga. The video for the track is only about 2 and a half minutes long, then you get 4 mins worth of trailers catching you up on all things DD172/ BLUROC.

I’ve grown accustom to tabi Bonney videos featuring a gaggle of scantily clad gorgeous models frolicking around in beautiful summery landscapes(here, here, and here). However, the D.C. emcee has gone in a different direction with his last few visuals (music is still tough, so I’m not complaining… too much). The added tracks include my personal favorite “Castle On A Cloud” (sheesh that beat is hard) and “Chop Chop” (can’t go wrong with a Yasiin Bey verse). Other features on The Endless Summer include Curren$y, Murs, Terri Walker, Nicole Wray, Dee-1, and tabi’s father Itadi Bonney. So you’re pretty much getting tabi and Ski’s 2011 album with some extra heat on it for free.99, I don’t think there’s a better sell than that.

We know you’re always starved for some fresh food for thought from the man Yasiin Bey. All the better if it’s served up on a nice, Caribbean-flavored coconut bun, courtesy of tried and tested rapper/producer-combo Tabi Bonney and Ski Beatz. On “Chop Chop”, Yasiin goes in, never missing a step with that “thick skin, rich color, hardbody, fresh butter” flow, as Ski Beatz works the steel pan and Tabi throws up a one-gun salute for Africa. The track is off TB’s forthcoming The Endless Summer project, which will be released as a freebie on May 17.
