Khari Mateen – Khari [EP]

Loyal fans of The Roots (as I’m sure all of you are) should be very familiar with the work of frequent collaborator Khari Mateen. Along with his past (and soon to be released) work with The Legendary, Khari has also released music with Jill Scott, The Money Making Jam Boys, and J*DaVeY, as well as currently recording with his band, Elevator Fight. Today, we are blessed with the solo debut of this talented musician, Khari. No features on this one, just Khari showcasing his versatility with “seven bold tracks that layer original, unapologetic lyrics over his already distinct production style… Each of the tracks may stem from different places in Mateen’s life, but collectively, act as one chapter in an ever-evolving musical story.” You can stream/purchase the project, after the jump.

Audio: Truck North “Jill Jawn”

Oh, you thought Truck North was going to fall back for awhile after releasing his last mixtape, Truck Jewels? Not at all, he's already in the studio with DJ Bear-One working on the next one, I Told You So… Here's the latest track from the homie, "Jill Jawn." As you can hear, dude def hasn't lost that momentum. Jill Scott did use this Khari Ferrari beat in the past, but it's clearly more than hot enough to re-use. Look for I Told You So… to drop by Summer's end.
