I’m new to the music of L.A. producer/writer xlsrebelsx, but he’s got a dope new single out “Sinnaman” featuring long tim friend, Blu… and features from Blu have put me on to some very talented artists over the years (What up Andy Allo?). Today, enjoy “Sinnaman” from the xlsrebelsx, and look for his Desire EP to drop tomorrow. Blu and Bombay have been long at work on their collaborative album Good To Be Home. While we still don’t have a release date, the two have dropped a new track featuring vocalist Arima Ederra on the hook. “Summertime” is a fresh take on The Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff‘s classic barbecue jam (more on them in aminute!) though Blu focuses on life in California rather than Will Smith’s West Philly. It also sounds like the sample flips the fat synth solo on the amazing live version Kool & The Gang‘s “Summer Madness” which provided the Fresh & Jeff version with its natural aphrodisiac. Blu has already flatly stated that this album will be his best to date and based on the few tracks already leaked, we’re definitley anxious to hear the full record. Brooklyn emcee ScienZe is going to keep us waiting on that new album of his, Ella, but if he continues to drop heaters like this along the way, I don’t mind at all. For his latest drop, Sci hooks up with Blu for the EOM produced “Charlie Brown.” Still the most pitiful character in cartoon history, but the lovable loser has inspired some great music over the years (and good grief, this song is dope). Ella is coming soon (it’ll be well worth the wait).

It’s been no days off for K-Def in 2013. After releasing his instrumental covers LP, One Man Band, in March, Def closed out April with another 12″, The Exhibit. The latest LP features 11 instrumentals and 2 vocal tracks with features from Blu, Quartermaine, and Seven Shawn of World Renown. Get a sample of what Def’s been cookin’ up with one of the vocal tracks, below. Analog heads rejoice: our favorite retail holiday of the year is upon us – Record Store Day! Figuring out where to go and what to cop can be a little overwhelming (and pocket-draining), but as usual, Okayplayer’s got your back. Paying actual money for physical copies of music may seem like a lost art these days, but since its inception, RSD has ensured that audiophiles, collectors, and casual listeners alike will have a few things worth leaving space for on their shelves. We here at Okayplayer know that being prepared is half the battle, so we’ve compiled a list of what we think are the can’t-miss releases dropping tomorrow to help keep your wallet and mind at ease while enjoying the vibes at your favorite local wax emporium. The Dibia$e produced “SLNGBNGrs” was definitely one of the highlights from the recently formally released Blu LP, NO YORK, and also helped define the departure from the BTH Blu that you heard throughout the LP. Most Blu fans already had heard the song/album about two years ago, and then got that remix project last year. But the LP never really got the attention it deserved in my opinion, so with it finally hitting retail, Blu commissions more remixes. For the aforementioned, “SLNGBNGrs,” Blu hollas at Lee Bannon for this rework entitled, “VEX’D,” once again breathing new life into a song that was already dope (this one knocks too).

A year ago we got an introduction to emcee/producer M.i via his street release The Coldplay Sessions, which had the Austin, Texas native flipping Coldplay samples over 15 tracks (check for it). Now he’s back and teaming with frequent collaborator Tyler Keyes for the aptly titled project, Pushing Keyes. Listen to M.i and Blu explore the idea of faith on the first official single, “Church West Texas.” Pushing Keyes will be out May 16th.
