I applauded H-Town emcee Trae The Truth for somehow getting Lupe Fiasco, Big Boi, Wale, and Wiz Khalifa all on the same track (and in the video as well, for that matter), for what culminated into a very strong posse cut. Today, Trae comes right back with version 2.0 with a handful of emcees that I mostly fux with (mostly). Take 5 minutes out of your day and listen to “I’m On 2.0″ featuring Big K.R.I.T., Jadakiss, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B, Tyga, Gudda Gudda, Bun B, and Mark Morrison (Cyfyre on the beat).

Joell Ortiz, Pharoahe Monch and B.o.B. all come off on this “me so crazy” anthem and amid the general schizophrenia it’s actually hard to tell who’s who for a second but which ever personality is up first is the dominant one, for my money. (And just for the record, if you have to ask the question, you are probably a psycho). Joell Ortiz’s mixtape The Life & Times of Sebastian Rios is coming soon but so far he has not shared an exact release date with us normals.

M-1 and stic of dead prez take a short respite from the whole banging-for-freedom thing to contemplate the wonders of the female form on this video for “The Beauty Within.”  As you may remember, this is from their DJ Drama mixtape project Revolutionary But Gangsta Grillz and the beat, of course, is a nice flip of B.O.B.’s radio hit “Nothing of You.” The way the images of natural hair/no make-up beauties and Nefertiti lyrics put their afrocentric spin on the love song kind of reminds me of jams from the DJ Red Alert era; how the Jungle Brothers and Poor Righteous Teachers recognized the soul in the R&B jams of their day, but raised their consciousness a notch with their own versions.

Hmm, so here’s a Lasers leftover that hit my inbox this morning. Here is Lupe Fiasco with “Who Are You Now” featuring B.o.B. The song is unfinished and was one of the earlier songs intended for Lasers. The track was produced by Lupe and features B.o.B on the guitar, Graham Burris on bass, and Matt Nelson on the boards. Apparently Lupe wanted Cee-Lo or Janelle Monae on the third verse.
