The 2nd annual Okayplayer Holiday Jammy in NYC went down on Thursday, December 18th at B.B. Kings in Times Square.  This year we teamed up with the good people at Frank151 magazine to ensure a packed house of friends, associates, and fans.   The line-up boasted The Roots and Friends with Tanya Morgan warming things up and DJ Soul on the 1's and 2's.  Continue reading to find out who came through and what went down!  Sign up on our email list so you don't miss out!


Anytime The Roots announce a show "with friends" it raises the question- "who is going to show up?"  This year's OKP Holiday event was no exception with surprise appearances from Q-Tip, Pharoahe Monch, Alice Smith, Estelle, Talib Kweli, Res, Graph Nobel (aka Idle Warship), 88-Keys, Bilal, Gary Bartz and more.  The lovely and talented Amanda Diva served as hostess and OKP fam Tanya Morgan held down the opening slot while keeping things very "hip-hop" (technical difficulties and freestyles included).  The untold story of the night was Jim Jones, who came to soundcheck and rehearsed "We Fly High," "Pop Champagne," and his "Day 'N Nite Remix" with the legendary Roots band only to get in a fight with security and the police upon his return later that evening.  John Brown "King of The Burbs" (lol) was there with his camera and captured the drama, posted below.  Also below you will find a montage video filmed and edited by Mikey Fresh for Missinfo.tv plus behind the scenes photos from Terrence Jennings and Mel D.
