Coming in number two is soccer star Lionel Messi, who took in $111 million, more than half of what Mayweather earned. LeBron James was the highest grossing basketball player, coming in at number five, taking in $85.5 million, with $52 million coming from endorsements.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was the highest grossing football player, coming in at number nine and earning $67.3 million.

The entire list is fascinating. One of the telling factors is that there are no woman in the top 100. Last year,Serena Williams was the only woman featured in the list, ranking in $27 million. But she is nowhereto be found this year, after taking a break to have a child.
