UPDATE: EA Sports says it will update Madden ’19 to include Colin Kaepernick’s name, calling the omission an “unfortunate mistake.”

“Members of our team misunderstood the fact that while we don’t have rights to include Colin Kaepernick in the game, this doesn’t affect soundtracks,” a statement from the video game company said. “We messed up, and the edit should never have happened. We will make it right, with an update to Madden NFL 19 on August 6 that will include the reference again. We meant no disrespect, and we apologize to Colin, to YG and Big Sean, to the NFL, to all of their fans and our players for this mistake.”

EA Sports has some explaining to do

Is the NFL trying to scrub Colin Kaepernick? Sure seems like it.

YG’s song “Big Bank” appears on the latest version of EA’s popular video game series Madden. The track features appearances from 2 Chainz, Nicki Minaj, and Big Sean.

On the song Sean raps:

Feed me to the wolves now I lead the pack and shit.. You boys all cap, I’m more Colin Kaepernick.

Now, the video game doesn’t officially come out until next week, but those who got early versions of the game noticed that the line is edited

User @Jeanclervil on Twitter noticed Kaepernick’s name does not appear:

Unsurprisingly, Kap also doesn’t appear in the game. That could be because an NFL didn’t signed the ex-quarterback last year after he protested during the national anthem.
