A man convicted of killing basketball icon Michael Jordan's father has gotten a new attorney in hopes of fighting the claims against him.

Daniel Green is now being represented by attorney Chris Mumma after Green requested both a new attorney and new trial, according to Sports Illustrated. Green was convicted of killing James Jordan 25 years ago and has been seeking a new trial for 18 years.

"When I became familiar with the full facts of the case, I became convinced he is not guilty of the murder of James Jordan, that he was not there when James Jordan was murdered, he was not part of a robbery of James Jordan, all things he was convicted of," Mumma, who serves as executive director of the North Carolina Center on Actual Innocence, said.

Green and Larry Demery were convicted of killing Jordan in July 1993. He was sleeping in his car when the attack took place. Jordan's body was discovered in a South Carolina swamp following the killing. During their trial in 1996, Demery said Green shot Jordan, while Green said all he did was help get rid of the body after Demery killed him.

A hearing will take place in December to determine whether Green should get an evidentiary hearing or not.

In related news, Michael Jordan recently voiced his support of LeBron James after Donald Trump called out the now-Los Angeles Lakers athlete on Twitter.

"I support LJ. He's doing an amazing job for his community," Michael said through a spokesperson.
