Christopher Reid, better known as Kid from Kid 'n Play has apologized for his part in making fun of Colin Kaepernick.

The person impersonating Colin Kaepernick looked white. And Twitter quickly pounced on FOX 1's Jason Whitlock, who has a checkered past. Turns out the impersonator wasn't white; he was black. In fact, the Colin Kaepernick impersonator was action rapper-actor Kid from Kid'n Play. As you might imagine, this didn't go well for Kid.

Well after a week of mostly silence, Kid has responded to the criticism. He posted a lengthy message on his Facebook page, where he apologized for his actions and took out Whitlock in the process. (He compared taking a picture with Whitlock to taking a picture with Samuel L. Jackson in Django.)

Kid wrote:

“Let me be clear: the skit and photo were not meant to disrespect Colin’s message or political stance...Rather, we wanted to spoof the media’s treatment of him and the circus that has been created…Anyone who knows me knows where I stand on Colin Kaepernick–exactly where he stands.”

Kid went on to write that he understood the issues Kaepernick was trying to address with his protest last year:

"Being born and raised in NYC I grew up seeing and reading about dozens of acts of police brutality. And the same way we know the names of Tamir Rice, Philando Castile and Michael Brown today, I grew up knowing the same fate had come to Eleanor Bumpurs, Amadou Diallo, and Abner Louima. Sadly, little has changed."

The whole message is worth a read. Check it out at his page here.
