Ice Cube’s BIG3 Basketball League Returns Fire With Lawsuit Of Its Own
Ice Cube’s 3-on-3 basketball league is facing a lawsuit from Champion Basketball League for $250 million, so it’s only right that he returns volley with one of his own.
BIG3’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, has taken rapper-actor-entrepreneur Ice Cube’s cue and filed court documents against Champion Basketball League (CBL) for defamation. This comes after the latter filed a $250 million lawsuit two weeks ago alleging that BIG3 stole their proprietary ideas.
“The issue is that BIG3 violated the agreement that players would be able to play in both leagues even though all the players had prior agreements with the Champions League,” they wrote in their suit. BIG3 denies there was an agreement between the two leagues in the first place. “[The head of the CBL is] a serial con-artist, fraudster and ponzi-schemer,” the BIG3 league said in its lawsuit claims.
It’s suing for unspecified damages.
