Friday's here. And while that's usually a signal to slow the senses and slip into a more leisurely mode, it's my cue to don the hard-hat and get to digging. So here's the week in extensive release day excavations.

Teased since the top of the summer, Prince's intimate and intoxicating Piano & A Microphone '83 has arrived featuring live, bareboned takes of crowd favorites and unheard gems from The Vault™. BROCKHAMPTON commenced a new chapter with the delivery of their blistering fourth studio album (and the first in a post-SATURATION trilogy) iridescence. Christine and The Queens dropped off a synth-savvy spell of Francophonic dream pop in Chris. Lou Phelps and Kaytranada proved the power of brotherly love and rhythm with another high-octane collaborative project, 002/LOVE ME. And Lupe Fiasco unveiled a mountain of new music on DROGAS WAVE.

Meanwhile, the week's singles campaign is dotted with trap triumphs from Lil Uzi Vert, Gucci Mane, J.I.D., and Cardi B; lush and lo-fi loosies a la Flying Lotus, Jerry Paper, Action Bronson, and Tyler, The Creator; simmering slow-burn specials per Gallant, Mahalia, 6ix, and AlunaGeorge.
