At least thus far. It takes a lot for me to actually purchase an album and I copped this shit right away (solely on the strength of Port Authority). I think a lot of cats got it twisted. The album is sick. It is what is...a raw, unapologetic, collection of smash ya face records. I don't think you can judge Torae based on this album alone. I'll admit, I kinda been sleepin on Torae until now. You can call him boring (I don't), but his delivery kept me interested. It doesn't hurt with MP on the beats. Yes...Marco Polo's production is what drives this album in my opinion, but I think Torae matched him line for line, beat for beat. Great duo. I'm curious to see this partnership develop. I bet those who weren't feelin the album this time around will have a different opinion on the next one (if there is a next one). This is probably my favorite album of the year so far. I'm from the boom bap era and this album made me feel like I was back in it, this is what a rap album should sound like. F what all you say about "lack of subject matter" on this album (90% of emcees talk about the same thing over and over), Tor's flow cannot be f'd with no matter what he's talking about. He spits it hard, gritty and grimey and MP's beats are on point. Great album especially considering all the highly anticipated albums released on Duck Down that end up being duds.
