I had her pegged as an spin-off artist from someone more successful, but after hearing that track ill give the album a fair listen - Bryan7

I love the new album. I believe that some things could have been left unsaid. I am an up-and-coming R&B/Soul artist, and I truely understand the comments about imagery. As artists, we have a responsibility to our listers to deliver a message. Music used to be about love and had substance, now it about "chains" and "whips", sounds like slavery all over again to me, and our children are supposed to learn from that? Our people are in a state of emergency, if your have the opportunity to speak to the world, you should have somethinng to say that contributes to the well-being and uplifted of our people. All people. It's no different than going to church and gettin your spirit fed by a pastor. It okay to make music to dance to, it makes people feel good, it's even okay to stunt a little. Thats fine, but while you have the attention of children and misguided people, teach. - Soulfuldisiac

American Producers Can't produce anymore.
"R&B" without BASS is a real turn off, it's sound fake.
At least with Amy Whinehouse there is a real Bass and real
musicians.

This is cute...I wish she didn't have the "Beyonce Shadow" thing over her, but it is what it is...I'm actually looking forward to hearing this album. If you need to escape a R&B/Pop MegaStar's shadow, then this is the exact album you'll need to do it. Good look from the Neptunes and Jack Splash. QTip, not so much. - SoulClap23

I have to agree with some of the comments. Big Ups to nore and strongblkwoman comments. Lyrics, Lyrics,Lyrics. We do we keep accepting and sugarcoating Bullsh*t in the music industry.Time out for this foolishness. The real world aint worried about listening to recycled soul music. At least in the 60's it meant something........Hint. Marvin Gaye's What's Going On? Lawrence Fishburne said it best in School Daze"WAAAKE UUUP" - Imanifest

Dynamic attempt n Solange's part. I too was lost in how the video for I Decided fit with the song, but it was a bold move to get our attentions without relying on the popular trio of sex, drugs or violence and it worked. She young and new at this so let's just support her. The video can stand as an art form in itself so we shouldn't always expect for the video and song to fit. She presented powerful images and a great song..we could ask for more but she's given us two great vehicles to showcase her talent and future potential. - Funkgent

while i like the song and the video independent of one another, i think it's slightly problematic that she is channeling martha and the vandellas without the song having any political significance. unlike 'dancing in the street,' this song isn't the spark to riots and there aren't any political undertones either. i think it's almost disrespectful to put this song with that particular imagery. nonetheless i watch the video everytime it's on. - nore

Solange cute imagery. However as an young black educator who works in an inner city school. young black girls need the message as well. Put out the message. I see teen pregnancy, promiscuity, and drug use of young black girls but what I constantly see in r&b female singers is an inconsistent message.Put out the real lyrics and align lyrics with the imagery. It appears as this was suppose to be deep by showing the black panthers and the evolution of music. Say Something!!!!!!!! You can appear deep by getting Q-Tip and other alternative artists but we know this is also an image. Walk the Walk all the time not just for the image of being deep. Continue your growth. You and other female r&b singers have a long way to go. - strngblkwoman

saw the video for the first time yesterday, and I like it. Why? Because it seems like she's doing her and not another Beyonce. I can appreciate that. The connection to the imagery has a lot to do with this being political season, which i think is a good look. I've been bumping Estelle for a minute now, it's nice to know I'll have more females to add to my new music collection - Jahi

I like her voice, she definitely comes off edgier than I expected from her doing pop-soul (which I'm still kinda "eehhh" on)...but I won't prejudge, I'm going to wait to listen to the entire album. - ArianaLi

I like 'Sandcastle Disco' and 'WhitePicket Dreams'; the intro of '6 O'Clock Blues' I don't want to compare!...but reminds me of Beyonces voice when I hear it (Waiting to hear the rest of the Album)...She gives off a real mello vibe when you listen to her on TV, I'm feeling her and her music! - Angelene B
