Photos: Wale, Blu & Exile, Skillz, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Talib Kweli & More at SOBs in NYC![]() Okayplayer and Mel D. Cole were on hand for last night's sold-out concert at SOB's. Wale and the UCB band were the headliners and it was considered Blu & Exile's first full show in NYC. Skillz came through for a guest slot and was joined by DJ Jazzy Jeff on the 1s and 2s. Kweli popped on stage to perform his verse on the new Skillz single "So Far So Good." The highlight for us was definitely a chance to finally catch the Cali based Blu & Exile. Blu had the crowd in the palm of his hand and Exile's mpc solo had heads blown. Check out the photo gallery from VillageSlum after the click and stay tuned for imminent youtubery, especially of that Exile solo. Hit up VillageSlum.com for a bonus set of J*Davey & Friends (who can get tired of picks of Jack?).

Dope ass show!
Blu & Exile was the highlight for me as well, even though Blu wouldn't take a shot of tequila w/me after the show (What up Exile!) The Wale set was crazy hype, w/UCB Band members damn near falling off the stage. Knowing little to nothing of their music, can't say I was feelin their solo joints. Even w/poor at best sound quality, Wale's was still dope. I only wish I could have gotten more solo shit. I was screaming for Wale @ Work, but no go... (Flow like zippo, so unmatched / Flow King Hippo, leave you on the mat.) Looking forward to catching the next show! 5

Dope show. UCB band was ill and Wale was dope like usual. Only negative thing I would have to say is that the sound was terrible. So how was the show dope then? Well, even with the sound being iffy the performers came through and killed it. That unified presence on stage and hype did it all. Regardless of that flaw, I think the show was tight and much respect to Wale.
