ODDISEE PRESENTS:
FOOT IN THE DOOR (MIXED BY DJ JAZZY JEFF)

NEW ALBUM FROM ODDISEE ON HALFTOOTH RECORDS!!

Halftooth Records is excited to announce that Oddisee’s highly anticipated album Foot In The Door will hit stores everywhere on October 3rd.  Foot In The Door, which is mixed by the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff,is a remarkable display of Oddisee’s outstanding skills both behind the boards and on the mic, with an emphasis on his brilliance as an emcee.

Oddisee emerged on the Hip-Hop scene in 2002 with a bang when he produced and performed the stand-out track “Musik Lounge” on DJ Jazzy Jeff’s The Magnificent LP.  Since then, Oddisee has earned his reputation as one of Hip-Hop’s hottest and most sought after producers, crafting classic gems for the likes of Talib Kweli, Little Brother, J-Live, Wordsworth, Freddie Foxxx, The UN, Grap Luva, The Visionaries and Asheru.  While Oddisee is best known for his head-nodding production work and for the infectious and mesmerizing sounds he creates behind the boards, many are still unaware of his lyrical skills and his natural ability to rock the mic, even after his show-stealing performances on albums such as DJ Jazzy Jeff’s The Magnificent, Halftooth Records’ You Don’t Know the Half, Wordsworth’s Mirror Music, The Foreign Exchange’s Connected, and Kev Brown’s I Do What I Do.  With several successful and critically-acclaimed production projects already under his belt, Oddisee, through Foot In The Door, now shifts the attention from his production work to his lyrical prowess and sets out to prove to the world that he can shine on both fronts.

It has long been an unwritten rule in Hip-Hop that no one man can achieve widespread success as both an emcee and producer.  Rarely is one man able to truly master both skills and find his own unique signature in both.  Oddisee, however, has defied these trends, and he has set out to achieve what few have accomplished before him.  Born in Washington, DC and raised in Maryland, Oddisee and his Low Budget crew, which consists of such artists and producers as Kev Brown, Kenn Starr and Cy Young, have already managed to leave their mark within the Hip-Hop community of the DC metropolitan area, and Oddisee has embraced his role as one of the pioneering leaders of the growing movement of artists from the DC/Maryland/Virginia area.  As a result of his rising success and popularity, and with the full support of his label Halftooth Records, Oddisee has managed to get his foot in the door in a cut-throat industry where doors seem to close more often than they open, and following in his footsteps are the countless numbers of other talented DC/MD/VA-based artists he so proudly represents.  After already influencing and inspiring his home-town, Oddisee is poised to influence the entire Hip-Hop community and to expose the DC/MD/VA area as a rich source of unrecognized talent with its own distinct and captivating sound.

Foot In The Door features previously released songs, rare and unreleased songs, as well as new exclusive songs recorded specifically for the album.  According to Oddisee, “There’s material on here as old as 2002 and as new as yesterday, and it really shows my development musically, and in life.”  On Foot In The Door, Oddisee covers various subject matters and topics which clearly illustrate his depth and diversity as an artist, from undeniable street anthems like “Propa” and “Gully,” to introspective thought-provoking songs like “Thinking Out Loud” and “Such Is Life,” to classic head-nodding tracks like “In Check” and “Boogie,” to profound socially, economically and politically conscious tracks like “Gentrification” and “Big Bidness.”  Remarkably, Oddisee possesses the unique talent to be able to rhyme about serious issues without sounding preachy while at the same time rocking a party and having fun.  On one of the album’s most refreshing tracks, “Let It Slide,” Oddisee pays homage to one of his mentors, the late Jay Dee, as well as to the Native Tongues movement of the ‘90s which helped pave the way for Oddisee and his Low Budget crew.  Adding another interesting layer to the project, Oddisee illustrates his universal sound and appeal by linking up with NYC-based hardcore legend Freddie Foxxx on the banger “Once Again,” as well as California-based emcee Trek Life on “Radio Talk,” UK-based emcee Tranqill on the gritty track “Propa,” as well as a number of other artists and producers from various parts of the world.

Foot In The Door clearly establishes Oddisee as a genuine double-threat producer/emcee extraordinaire with a fresh, innovative style and a universal appeal.  His brilliant flow, clever word-play, vast intellect and intriguing charisma on the mic, together with his expertise behind the boards, will undoubtedly solidify Oddisee’s reputation as one of the few gifted producers/emcees who can shine equally in both forms and as one of the most talented, original and well-rounded artists of our time.
