The icon who passed only two months back, was celebrated and commemorated this past weekend with an all-star salute that wrangled the Soulquarian sorts, Minneapolis' finest and the modern day disciples all under one purple-crushed roof. If you caught the magic of that moment, good on you, but it shouldn't take a brain-busting moment to realize just how much went into her heroic performance.
Speaking with Billboard, the longtime Prince collaborator and onetime lover detailed all of the grueling steps on the way to making a performance so perfectly curated, so righteously in the name of the fallen artist, from all they initially had in the works (The Time, Larry Graham and more) to what eventually became the The BET Award's coup de grace, soaked in the purple stuff.
