YG + DB Tha General Share Their Cookin' Soul-Produced Mixtape 'California Livin'

This summer isn't over until YG says it is, apparently. Far be it from us to disagree. The MC extraordinaire has finally released his collaborative California Livin' mixtape, which draws upon the talents of Cookin Soul and DB Tha General. The 13 track mix features the likes of Nipsey Hussle, Fiend A.V., Anarchy and DaBoyWay, and is, without question, one of the most delightful bits of funk you're bound to hear all fall. Can you still grill out in a pair of swimming trunks, even as the leaves change color overhead?

What a foolish question. You could barbecue in an ice storm to this thing.

We were treated to foretastes of the tape with the drops of singles like "Block Party" and "G Thang" earlier this year--samples that made it all to obvious that funky stuff was on the way. Now, YG and co. have delivered, and it's truly wonderful time to be alive. These cuts are funky, hard-hitting and inventive in their construction, with plenty of that guitar-funk sound that you've come to expect from the Cookin Soul crew. A fitting homage to the West Coast G Funk tradition which, it turns out, is alive and well. Listen to the mix below and download your own copy here.
