Yellow Shoots returns with the new single “Desert Rose” from his forthcoming full-length album. The latest from the Brooklyn-based “alternative maestro” follows his 2017 Stormy Weather EP. Back at the helm wielding his atmospheric signature falsetto, founder and frontman Greg Matthews is the perfect compliment to an infectious arrangement featuring Oberheim synths, handclaps, and an effervescent bass line with a psychedelic edge that plays like an homage to the best of Jamiroquai and His Royal Badness. “Desert Rose” is definitely ripe to score a ride with the top down. Matthews explains that the starry-eyed single is dedicated to the delusion that can sometimes accompany love and lust.

“It’s essentially about being obsessed with someone and building a whole distorted world around that person,” Matthews explains. “You realize it’s all make-believe when you come back down to reality. The object of your affection won’t give you the time of day, but you create a fictitious vision.”
