Yasiin Explains 'The Time Is Always Now' On South Africa's Channel 24

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.Yasiin speaks on Live From Africa broadcasts for South African TV

Yasiin Bey FKA Mos Def breaks down the concept of his "The Time Is Always Now" on South African outlet Channel 24 (in Cape Town) revealing--in case it wasn't clear--that this will be a live series, broadcast from different locations throughout the bright continent. Undisclosed loactions, to be specific. Or as Yasiin put it, by way of explanation as to why he's so "keen not to reveal the locations" of these one off mini-concerts:

"I want to do something that's highlighting the continent and the diversity of the continent...also i think there's something to be said for having some economy in saying [only] what needs to be said, you know?"

Bey drops a few more nuggets along the course of the 6-minute convo with interviewer Jenn Senasie, not least of which is the simple fact that he's "excited to be performing new material, material that i've just written..." suggesting that the next installments in the LIVEFROMAFRICA series may also centered around new and exclusive material.

In response to the question, "why Africa?" Bey has 2 equally valid responses:

"I'm from here actually."

and:

"Why not?"

Well spoken. Watch below for the full Q&A... and stay tuned for the next broadcast from A Country Called Earth.
