Visual Culture: Art in the Dancehall + Caribbean Art in NYC [via LargeUp]

Our friends over at LargeUp have pointed us to a couple of art events going down this summer, that sound like some dope options to escape the heat at this time of year. For one, there's the three-part-exhibition “Caribbean: Crossroads of the World,” (which The New York Timeshas called “the big art event of the summer season in New York”), taking place in El Museo del Barrio, the Queens Museum of Art and the Studio Museum in Harlem, and which will showcase paintings, sculptures, photography, video and historical artifacts from across the islands and Latin America’s Caribbean coasts. On somewhat of a related note, Britain's culture-aficionados will be able to visit the "Art in the Dancehall"-exhibit, first at Birmingham's BASS Festival and starting later this month at London's PUMA YARD, examining the intimate relationship between dancehall music and art.
